You can send all of the above either via e-mail or text message (or go crazy and use both, why not!). To start go to the side menu „Show More“ and then to „Notifications.“ The first three messages are notifications that go out via email, and the bottom three are notifications that go out via text message. Staying on top of everything at all times is important. So very important. To achieve that yourself and to help your customers to make that you can send out three kinds of automated notifications:

Booking confirmation:

Booking confirmation – it will be sent out straight after the reservation is made. You can set it up in a way that the e-mail goes out even when you make the booking yourself. Confirmation is fantastic because customers will be notified straight away about the upcoming booking and they can double check if all the given details are correct.

Booking reminder:

Booking reminder – this notification will go out before the appointment. You can choose how many days or hours in advance your customers will be notified. The reminder is great because it reminds (see what we did there?) the client about the upcoming reservation. So they wouldn't miss it! We at Salon Life would recommend to send out the email as a reminder and text messages so that the customer wouldn't be late. You can adjust in a way that the e-mail will go out 24h beforehand and text 2hrs before.

Thank you note:

Thank you note – this is an additional notification which you can send out after the appointment. It is an excellent opportunity to show your gratitude and encourage your customers to give you feedback or book future dates (if they don't already have). You can choose how many hours or days after the appointment you would like to send out the message. Thank-you notes are fantastic for saying “Thank you,” but also for feedback or suggesting to book a new appointment.

NB! The price for the text message is 0.09€ (including VAT). Salon Life doesn't make any money off this service; we just want you to be able to communicate with your clients most efficiently and affordably possible. 

We use the services of Twilio which is the safest and most used text message company in the world. 

For email service, we use Mandrill which is also the most used service provider in that category and loved by its users around the globe. Mandrill sends out 20 billion e-mails every month for more than 10 million users. Wow!

If you wish to send out regular newsletters to your clients, we offer MailChimp integration. For that go to “My Salon,” then “Integration” and then MailChimp. It is free up until 2000 subscribers. Just start scribbling! 

How to turn on the automated messages?

You need to choose the type (e-mail or text or both) and create an applicable content for it. 

Let's do one together. I'll choose the first one – an automated confirmation message sent via e-mail:

⭐️ E-mail headline

You can write something like that: „Thank you, we have received your booking!“ or „Thank you [first name], we have received your booking!“

NB! [first name] in the actual e-mail will be replaced by the name of the customer. To do that (to use the data of the booking) click on „Templates“ and select the necessary info. 

⭐️ The content of the e-mail:
For example, you can write here the following text (or even copy and paste it):

Thank you, we have received your booking and are looking forward to meeting you on the [booking_date] [booking_time] at our salon.

The services you have booked are:
[booking_services_with_prices_and_durations]

Kind regards,
[staff_firstname]

PS! If you wish to cancel the booking, just [booking_cancel_link label="click here."]

⭐️ Settings 

Now what is left to do, is to choose from below when you wish to send out the e-mail. You can also add names and pictures of the staff members.

If you would first like to see how the letter will look like, you can do that by clicking „Preview“ on the top right corner and searching for a customers name to see how it looks like with a real name and actual booking details. Now every time a customer makes a booking they receive an automated reminder. 

The setup for other notifications is the same, only thing different is that you can choose when the reminder and thank you messages will be sent out.
